Science is Wonderful! 2023

The European Commission funds excellent young researchers across the EU and abroad through Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, allowing them to study a topic that they care about in depth.

Since 2015, Science is Wonderful! has bridged this research with schools across the European Union. It celebrates the value and impact of EU-funded research by organising a science fair which allows primary and secondary school students to interact with leading researchers and innovators, while showcasing research projects through presentations, hands-on experiments, games and quizzes.

After two years in an online format, the 2023 iteration of Science is Wonderful! was an opportunity to return to the physical format of the science fair, bringing school pupils face-to-face with researchers once again.
VO drew up a communication strategy to broaden the reach of the Science is Wonderful! physical event and online activities. This involved identifying the main partners, multipliers and networks, as well as conceiving targeted communication campaigns.
Our graphic team redesigned the virtual presence of Science is Wonderful!, harmonising the look across platforms, and updating the services on offer to reflect this edition’s needs. An important part of the activity was the organisation of the ‘Expertiment in the classroom’ competition, targeted at MSCA researchers and teachers for a co-created game, experiment or other pedagogical material for a specific age group. A workshop for MSCA researchers participating in the science fair the day before the exhibition was organised. Finally, the science fair organised in Brussels attracted almost 4 000 pupils over the course of two days.
