European Sustainable Energy Week 2022

Rising prices, war in Ukraine and the climate crisis mean energy is top of the agenda for European citizens and policymakers alike. Coming together to collaborate and share innovative new approaches will be key to transforming Europe’s energy landscape. The European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2022 gathered a community of solutions-oriented energy stakeholders to drive forward this energy transition.

After two years of virtual events, the 16th edition marked a new departure with a hybrid event. This format allowed the sustainable energy community to come together physically while retaining online elements for audiences around the world. To ensure this gathering was a success, as well as coordinating the 4-day event and accompanying activities, VO developed and implemented an ambitious communication strategy spanning the nine months leading up to the event in September.

We centred our approach to the European Sustainable Energy Week on community management in the widest sense of the term. Paid and organic posting across social media channels, a dedicated newsletter, informative blog posts and community-sourced content all featured. This strategy drove energy stakeholders to engage with calls to participate in the different elements of the week. Additionally, a daily ‘digest’ of highlights from the Policy Conference was sent out during the event to reinforce discussions and boost engagement.

The campaign succeeded in driving higher registrations than previous editions and securing consistent and meaningful engagement across channels.
