European Sustainable Energy Week 2021

Establishing a dynamic and engaged clean energy community is vital as Europe steps towards a sustainable energy future. The European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2021 aimed to do just that. It brought together public authorities, private companies, NGOs and consumers to promote initiatives to save energy and move towards renewables for clean, secure and efficient power.

Organised on behalf of DG ENER and CINEA, the EU Sustainable Energy Week 2021 gave this community of policy makers, researchers, campaigners and more the opportunity to debate and discuss key policy areas and goals. More than a five-day event, it involves an ambitious campaign throughout the year. This campaign is aimed at strengthening connections between green energy stakeholders and keeping them updated with developments in the field.

Alongside the 4-day Policy Conference, the online event featured a series of Sustainable Energy Days across Member States, and the second annual European Youth Energy Day. The Youth Energy Day this year took the form of a 48-hour-long energy communication Hackathon. Young people around the world were able to participate virtually to solve pressing issues and compete to win.

Subsequently, following the successful implementation of EUSEW 2021, VO Europe has organised further editions of the European Sustainable Energy Week. The event took place in 2022 and 2023 in a hybrid format.
