The European Research and Innovation Top Stories Exhibition showcases 100+ EU-funded projects that are building the Europe we all want to live in. Behind the R&I Exhibition was a desire to illustrate the impressive impact of EU-funded to the citizens benefitting from it.
Research and innovation, especially on the EU level, can sometimes appear abstract and distant from our real lives. The R&I Exhibition was designed to counteract that sentiment and inspire Europeans to learn more about its positive impact.
VO designed and developed a virtual exhibition space that would let EU success stories shine. Key considerations included user journey, cybersecurity and translations between the fixed elements of the platform. In addition, we leveraged our experience of the subject matter and oversaw the production of video and podcast content, communication activities to promote the exhibition on social media, and the design and conception of gamification elements to boost user engagement and add interactivity to the exhibition platform.
The final result was a series of visually beautiful panoramas based on eight different themes. Users were able to explore specially produced videos, podcasts and articles diving into the worlds of healthcare, the environment, education, the future of work, agriculture and food, and smart cities. Each panorama included spotlights on impactful EU research projects. We developed content in different formats (videos, podcasts, and more) to allow users to explore further.
This project aimed to showcase EU funding’s impact through engaging narratives, and demonstrating its everyday relevance.
VO continued to support DG RTD with the visibility of EU research projects with another edition of the virtual R&I Exhibition in 2022.
