European Employment and Social Rights Forum

The first edition of the new DG EMPL flagship event, the European Employment and Social Rights Forum, was organised around the 5th anniversary of the European Pillar of Social Rights in November 2022.

The EU Social Forum aimed to raise awareness about DG EMPL’s work on the Pillar Action Plan. It was an opportunity to establish a solid brand by organising a highly visible flagship event in employment and social affairs similar to other high-level European Commission events.

The overarching theme for the event was ‘The Social Dimension of the Green Transition’ and it aimed to put inclusivity and a Just Transition at the centre of the agenda.

VO Europe coordinated hybrid sessions across three studios throughout the two days of the conference. We managed over 70 speakers (including VIPs and VVIPs) both virtually and on-site. This included creating show-flows, welcoming participants and handling the technical aspects of the hybrid activities. We were also responsible for the management of an online event platform. This interactive space allowed participants to consult the programme, plan their calendar, network and stream sessions.

VO Europe oversaw the event’s communications and promotion. This involved developing a brand-new visual identity for the event, and a social media buying campaign.

Over 900 participants came to the European Employment and Social Rights Forum. Speakers included Commissioner Schmit, former President Juncker and President Von der Leyen, who shared their insights on the employment and social rights strand. Overall, participants responded positively to the event and the opportunity to learn more about social rights in the EU context.
